The main results of the uRBFARM program are to create a blended-learning program for low-skilled adult learners fostering green competencies. The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) program with consist of at least four core training modules in a) organic farming, b) vertical farming, c) entrepreneurship skills and d) community-based initiatives. The theoretical part will be supported by hands-on training (i.e. labs) for sustainability skills. As part of our research we will produce, a multilingual report explaining country particularities, characteristics, and challenges in an urban setting in Germany, Austria, Cyprus, Greece, and Italy.
The URBFARM project targets low-skilled adult learners interested in urban farming and entrepreneurship. Interested parties who will have the opportunity to participate in 2 pilot training rounds with a three months duration for each, that will include 1 month training for the lab skills.
Consolidate solid knowledge around the particularities and obstacles each partner country is facing in terms of urban farming.
Stakeholder mapping for completion of semi-structured interviews and discussions, either and face-to-face or online.
Consolidated knowledge from research and partner experience will define the vision, focus, objectives and methodology for the curriculum design.
Development of the URBFARM Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) with a wide variety of learning materials.
The leader of the consortium is the Association for Vertical Farming (AVF), a leading global, non-profit organization with extensive knowledge and experience in the development indoor/vertical farming field. Together with the remaining consortium partners who have a long experience in research, project implementation, adult education and knowledge transfer, and transnational cooperation, this is a strong partnership and a signature for success. Our result is an educational program tailored to the environmental and social particularities of the partner countries.
